Break reminders and typing strain warnings

Break buddy suggests a stretch after 30, 50 or 90 minutes of work. On MacBooks with a motion sensor, Tell me when I type hard warns you to go easy.

Updated

Break buddy is a set of gentle nudges from Tappy. It reminds you to stretch after a long stretch of work, and warns you when you type too hard.

Break reminders

  1. Open Settings › General, then find the Break buddy card.
  2. Turn on Remind me to take breaks. It’s on by default.
  3. Under Remind me after, choose 30 minutes, 50 minutes (the default) or 90 minutes.

Stepping away for five minutes counts as a break.

Typing strain warnings

Tell me when I type hard learns how hard you usually type, and nudges you to go easy on your hands. It’s on by default, and it needs a MacBook with a motion sensor. On other Macs, the switch says Needs an Apple silicon MacBook from M1 Pro or M2 Air on.

Both switches live in the same card. Turn either one off to stop its nudges.
