Deleting the app doesn’t remove everything it left on your Mac. Do these steps in TapNoise first, while it’s still installed.
Before you delete the app
- Open Settings › Agents. Click Remove next to each connected agent. This takes TapNoise’s entries out of the agents’ settings files.
- Open Settings › General, and turn off Open at login if it’s on.
- Open Settings › License, then click Remove from this Mac. This deletes the license from your Keychain and frees the seat, so the key works on another Mac.
- Click Quit TapNoise in the menu.
Delete the app
Move TapNoise from Applications to the Trash.
Remove what’s left
These are the leftovers TapNoise can leave behind. Remove them by hand if they’re still there:
- The agent backups and the hook file, in
~/Library/Application Support/TapNoise. - The preferences file,
~/Library/Preferences/app.tapnoise.TapNoise.plist. - The license, in your Keychain. Open Keychain Access and search for
app.tapnoise.TapNoise.
Optionally, remove TapNoise from the Input Monitoring and Accessibility lists in System Settings › Privacy & Security.
If you already deleted it
Your agents keep working. TapNoise’s hook quietly does nothing once the app is gone, and any Codex notify command you had before still runs. To remove the entries, reinstall TapNoise, click Remove in Settings › Agents, then delete it again.
If you can’t reinstall it, or you deleted it without removing the license, contact support. We’ll help you clear the agent files and free the seat.
