Slap sounds and sensitivity on your MacBook

Turn slap sounds on or off and set Sensitivity to Gentle, Normal or Firm in Settings › MacBook. Slaps need a MacBook with a motion sensor.

Updated

Give your MacBook a gentle slap and it says ouch. Harder hits are louder. Slaps use the MacBook’s motion sensor, so they need one of the supported MacBooks.

Turn slap sounds on

  1. Open Settings › MacBook.
  2. Under Slaps, turn on Slap sounds. It’s on by default.

If your Mac doesn’t have the sensor, the row says Slaps need an Apple silicon MacBook from M1 Pro or M2 Air on.

Set sensitivity

Under Sensitivity, choose how hard a hit has to be:

  • Gentle counts lighter hits.
  • Normal is the default.
  • Firm only counts hard hits.

Typing never counts as a slap. Sensitivity can only be changed while slap sounds are on.

Each slap earns Tappy 10 XP, and Tappy gets dizzy. The Harder press, louder sound option is separate. It lives under Settings › Keyboard.
