How to keep a desktop companion from covering your work

Move Tappy out of the active document, hide it for a presentation or recording and keep visual and sound controls separate when you change the workspace.

Drag Tappy to a less intrusive part of the screen, or turn off Tappy on screen when you need a clear workspace. A desktop companion should fit around your work rather than block it.

Pick a practical position

Avoid the text insertion area, meeting controls and the corner where another app shows important notifications. Test the position while using your normal windows rather than only on an empty desktop.

A small character can still cover a link or a caption. If you repeatedly drag it around during a task, hiding it temporarily is the simpler option.

Before presenting or recording

Use the menu or Settings › General to turn Tappy on screen off. Check the shared screen preview to confirm the audience sees the intended area.

Sound playback has separate controls. Hiding the character does not mean a recorder or meeting is guaranteed to exclude TapNoise audio. Inspect Sounds, Quiet during calls and the recorder’s capture sources independently.

Bring it back deliberately

Enable Tappy after the task and choose a position that suits the current monitor arrangement. The character’s reactions and stats are optional context, not a reason to cover the document you need to read.

For audio capture, use the quiet recording checklist. For the character’s purpose, the desktop companion guide explains what it reacts to and what it does not measure.
