TapNoise can trigger a media play/pause action from a knock on a supported MacBook. The result depends on the active media setup, so test it with the player you normally use.
Choose an unambiguous action
In Settings › MacBook › Knock commands, enable the feature and set the two- or three-knock picker to Play / pause music if that is always what you want.
The combined Play / pause, or mute mic in calls action changes purpose when a microphone is active. Dictation or a recorder can matter as well as a meeting, so choose deliberately.
Check permission and hardware
Media key actions need Accessibility as described in the settings. Motion sensing also requires a compatible MacBook. Permission cannot create missing hardware.
Use gentle, distinct knocks near the intended surface. Avoid treating the app as a reason to strike the computer forcefully or test a gesture while handling an unstable laptop.
Verify the player
Play a harmless track, knock and confirm the expected app pauses. If another player responds, inspect the media session and open apps before changing sensitivity or adding more utilities.
Keep normal media keys available as a fallback. For those keys, see Fn and the function row. For microphone control instead, use the dedicated mute setup.
