How to hear when a Cursor agent finishes on your Mac

Connect Cursor to TapNoise for a completion cue, test a small local turn and distinguish a finished agent loop from code that has passed review.

TapNoise can play a sound when Cursor reports that an agent loop has finished. It uses Cursor’s local hook mechanism, so you can look away while a turn runs and return when there is something to inspect.

Connect and test

Move TapNoise into Applications before connecting it. Open Settings › Agents, find Cursor and choose Connect. TapNoise backs up the existing hook configuration before adding its entry.

Start a fresh local Cursor session and request a small, harmless task. Verify the sound at the end of that turn before depending on it during longer work.

Know what the cue means

Cursor’s stop hook reports an outcome for the loop. TapNoise uses that information for done or error feedback. It does not prove the generated code compiles, tests pass or the original request is completely satisfied.

TapNoise’s current Cursor integration does not provide the separate “needs your permission” cue available for Claude Code. Do not assume all three agent integrations report identical events.

If it stays silent

Test a cue from TapNoise’s Agents page, check Play agent sounds and inspect whether a microphone is causing quiet playback. Then check the connection state and use Repair if the app was moved.

See missing agent sound checks for that sequence. If you previously installed a manual sound hook, inspect both configurations to avoid duplicate alerts.
