Choose alert sounds by the decision they ask you to make. A completion cue says “review the result”; a permission cue says “the agent is waiting for you.” Those should be easy to distinguish.
Learn the small set
In TapNoise Settings › Agents, preview Done, Needs you and Error. The cues are voiced within your selected keyboard theme, so changing themes can change how they sound.
Practise with a small local task before using them during a busy workday. Keep the level comfortable enough that a surprise cue is useful rather than startling.
Avoid an alert for every tool call
A long agent turn may use many tools. Attaching the same notification to each step can make the final event harder to notice. Start with the events that actually change your next action.
Supported events differ between integrations. TapNoise currently provides Claude Code’s permission cue; the other connected agents do not necessarily send an equivalent event through this integration.
Keep a visual way back
A sound can be missed in a loud room or while wearing the wrong output device. Keep the agent window accessible, and use Tappy’s reaction as another indication rather than making sound your sole record of progress.
During calls, quiet playback may be intentional. After any cue, remember that done is not a correctness check: inspect the actual result before continuing.
