TapNoise volume and key release sounds

Change how loud TapNoise is with the volume slider, and turn on Key release for a softer sound when a key comes back up, like a real switch.

Updated

Volume

  • In the menu, drag the volume slider. It sits under the status line, with a speaker icon at each end.
  • In Settings › Sounds, drag the Volume slider. A short preview plays when you let go.

Key release

Key release plays a softer sound when a key comes back up, like a real switch. It’s off by default.

  1. Open Settings › Keyboard.
  2. Under Keys, turn on Key release.

Other key options

The same Keys card has two more switches:

  • Harder press, louder sound is on by default. Type softly and keys go quiet; hit them hard and they get loud. It needs a MacBook with a motion sensor.
  • Stereo placement is on by default. Keys on the left sound a little to the left, and keys on the right to the right.
