How to choose a TapNoise sound theme

Pick from 20 keyboard and fun sounds in the TapNoise menu or in Settings › Sounds, and pin up to six to the menu bar for quick switching.

Updated

TapNoise has 20 sounds on two shelves. The sound you pick plays for your key presses. The default is Thock.

Pick one from the menu

  1. Click the keycap in the menu bar.
  2. Under Sound, click the sound you want. It’s checked, and it plays once so you can hear it.

The menu lists your pinned sounds, plus the one you’re using. All sounds… opens Settings with all 20.

Pick from all 20

  1. Open Settings › Sounds.
  2. Click a sound to use it.
  3. To pin a sound to the menu, use the pin on its card. You can pin up to six. If the menu is full, the pin says The menu bar is full. Unpin a sound first.

Before you unlock TapNoise, clicking a sound still plays it so you can hear it, but you can’t use it yet.

The sounds

Keyboards: Thock, Creamy, Clicky, Silky, Hushed, Bumpy, Pillowy, Clunky, Chunky, Retro.

Fun: Typewriter, 8-bit, Bubble, Piano, Rain, Paws, Kalimba, Woody, Marbles, Laser.

8-bit, Piano and Kalimba are musical. With one of them picked, you can type a song.
