macOS won't open TapNoise? Use Open Anyway

TapNoise isn't notarized by Apple yet, so macOS asks you to confirm the first launch. Approve it once in Privacy & Security with Open Anyway.

Updated

TapNoise is signed by its maker but not notarized by Apple. So the first time you open it, macOS asks you to confirm. You only need to do this once.

Approve it

  1. Open TapNoise from Applications. When macOS says it can’t check it, click Done.
  2. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll to Security. It says TapNoise was blocked. Click Open Anyway.
  4. Confirm with your password or Touch ID.
  5. Open TapNoise again and click Open.

From then on TapNoise opens like any other app. A new download may ask once more.

No Open Anyway button?

Open Anyway appears after you’ve tried to open TapNoise. Try step 1 again, then go back to Privacy & Security and look under Security.

What not to do

Don’t turn off Gatekeeper, or run Terminal commands to remove the quarantine flag, to get past this message. Open Anyway approves TapNoise only, and those changes lower protection for every app. If the message you see is different from the one above, contact support before you go on.
