How to preview Mac keyboard sounds before installing an app

Use TapNoise's browser demo to compare actual themes, then understand which parts of system-wide playback still need a test on your Mac.

You can hear TapNoise’s keyboard samples on the website before installing the Mac app. The demo is a sound preview; it does not grant the webpage access to typing in other apps.

Make the preview useful

Open the sound demo, pick a theme and click its typing area. Write a short passage you know, then repeat it with another theme. Use the same output and a similar listening level for both.

Include spaces and a few corrections. Repeating one letter makes almost every keyboard sound more mechanical and tells you less about ordinary writing.

If nothing plays, interact with the demo first and check whether the browser or output device is muted. Browsers restrict automatic audio, so a silent initial page load is not evidence that the sound files are broken.

What the demo can tell you

It is good for comparing the character of the sound: deep, smooth, crisp or playful. It can help you rule out a theme you dislike without downloading anything.

It cannot establish your Mac app’s system-wide latency, microphone behaviour, permissions or sensor support. A browser page and a native app have different input and playback paths.

Finish the decision on your Mac

Install from the download page if the sounds appeal to you. Move the app into Applications, grant the required permission deliberately and test in your usual editor.

For a wider selection checklist, see choosing a keyboard sound app. Keep your first comparison short enough that you remember what changed between settings.
