Charger and USB sounds: turn them on or off

TapNoise plays a tune when you plug in or unplug the charger and a sound when a USB device connects. Both work on any Mac and can be turned off.

Updated

TapNoise can play a little tune when you plug in or unplug power, and a sound when a USB device connects or leaves. Both work on any Mac, with no motion sensor needed.

Turn them on or off

  1. Open Settings › Events.
  2. Under Also play on, set each switch:
    • Charger plays A little tune when you plug in or unplug power. It’s on by default.
    • USB devices plays A sound when a USB device connects or leaves. It’s on by default.
    • Trackpad clicks plays clicks for the trackpad and mouse buttons. It’s on by default.

Guard Mode

If Guard Mode is on, pulling the charger sets off its alarm, even on a Mac without a motion sensor. See Guard Mode.
